Whakakai - Jewellery

Our whakakai are contemporary pieces inspired by taonga and forms that have been carried through generations. Within the collection you’ll find hei tiki, pekapeka and pōria, each reimagined as jewellery made to be worn today.

Available in gold and silver, our pieces are made from durable, non-tarnish materials designed for regular wear — bold enough to stand on their own, but easy enough to become part of your everyday kākahu.

The beauty for us is not only in the form, but in the kōrero held within it. Our pōria, for example, draws from the traditional pōria placed on manu and carries whakaaro around oranga, care and the nurturing of whānau.

Like our kākahu, our whakakai are part of Hunaarn’s wider commitment to te whare toi — taking inspiration from the mātauranga and art forms handed down to us and carrying them forward in contemporary ways.
